Hello Pastor:
I pray you are well! Linda and I are enjoying springtime in Sacramento, yet fully aware the heat
of summer is right around the corner.
In coming to this office I have done my best to listen to comments, concerns or complaints
from you . . . the District Affiliated pastor. My job is to make yours easier. One of the common complaints
my office receives is in regards to insurance and particularly the billing of fire/liability, worker’s compensation
and/or auto insurance. Many of you are probably shaking your head in agreement right now. Receiving three
to four different invoices each month for different policies can be very confusing. I want you to know I’ve heard
you, and so has our District Presbytery. We have agreed to do something about it. Now that I’ve covered why
we need to restructure our current billing system for insurance let me jump into the who, what, when, and how
this will happen.
Who: Church Mutual (currently known as AG Financial Insurance Services) will continue to be our district’s
recommended insurance carrier. If you are a new pastor or your church has recently reverted please call
Miriam Self (916-503-2929) to ensure your policy is with AG Financial Insurance Services.
What: Instead of receiving multiple invoices per month, your church will receive one invoice that will include your
Multi-peril, auto, workers comp, umbrella policy, volunteer accident policy, CA corporation renewal fee, and any
delinquent amounts you may owe to the district office. Included with this letter is a breakdown of these services
specific to your church.
When: Pastor, you will be able to decide if you would like to be invoiced monthly or semi-monthly. Instead of
receiving a quarterly invoice showing you owe hundreds or thousands of dollars by breaking down the cost on a
monthly or semi-monthly basis the task will not be as daunting. The new billing system will go into effect
July 1, 2008. However, we need the attached form filled out and returned to our office no later than May 25, 2008.
How: Here’s how this new billing format will work: by filling out the attached form and returning it to the DRC
along with a voided check we will be able to automatically withdraw the amount (as shown on the attached schedule) from your account. No longer will you have to deal with late fees or worry if your policy is current if an accident happens. I personally promise that you will be aware of the amount we withdrawal each month
beforehand. We will communicate with you immediately and will give you ample time if there are any changes to
your invoice.
Pastor, this is not voluntary, the District Presbytery has agreed that each District Affiliated church take part in this effort to protect our district, our churches and especially our pastors from liability. I am responsible for over 180 District Affiliated churches and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. I believe this new process for billing will not only relieve my stress regarding insurance but yours as well. If you have any questions please contact me immediately, I am here to speak with you.
